Shoot the highest quality digital video and snap still photographs with the Canon ZR40, a compact, all-in-one camcorder you can hold in the palm of your hand. Digital download and transfer to your PC is fast and efficient with IEEE 1394 (FireWire) protocol.
" |
Canon ZR40s use standard MiniDV cassettes, which deliver picture quality that is significantly better than the best analog formats. MiniDV cassettes record both video and audio, so you can download to your computer without compromising image quality. The transfer is handled with IEEE 1394 protocol - commonly called FireWire.
" |
The camera's built-in image stabilization system lets you take steadier shots of the fastest action. Lenses include an 18X Optical Zoom for close-up action and true wide-angle shots, and a 360X Digital Zoom for telephoto magnification of your subject.
" |
The camera can transfer digital video and audio to and from your PC, to another camcorder equipped with IEEE 1394 (FireWire) protocol, or to a professional digital video VCR. Edit and process images by connecting the camera to your PC.
" |
Use the analog-to-digital converter to automatically convert footage recorded from a standard VCR, TV, or another analog camcorder. The ZR40 features two types of analog audio and video inputs and outputs: Composite and S-video. For instant editing, simply connect your TV, VCR, or analog camcorder to the Canon ZR series and send the analog signal directly to the PC through the 1394 terminal, without recording to tape.
" |
Get creative with manually controlled focus, exposure, white balance and shutter speeds, or let the camera do all the work and automatically adjust for the best picture. The camcorder also comes with special effects, such as digital faders, and the Night Mode adjusts for recording in low light.
" |
The camcorder also takes still photographs and stores them on tape.
" |
Record in two audio modes: 16-bit (32kHz, 2 from 4 channels) for recording on two channels (stereo 1), which is slightly better than CD quality and equivalent to DAT tape; and 12-bit (32 kHz, 2 from 4 channels) for recording on two channels (stereo 1), leaving two channels (stereo 2) open for post production audio recording.
" |
The ZR40 has a both a color viewfinder and 2.5-inch fold-out color LCD screen. Use the fold-out screen to shoot from any angle without having to look through the viewfinder - and to see your immediate playback.
