Search queries can be one word or a phrase.
Here are some tips to help you use all the features of Search to find what you're looking for.
- Look for words with a common prefix. For example, type in key to find key, keyhole, keyboard, keying.
- Search for all forms of a word by typing in the root of the word. For example, type in load to find load, loader, loading, loaded.
- Search with the word NEAR rather than AND to find words close to each other on a page. For example, typing either document AND format or document NEAR format will cause a search for document and format on the same page. But by using NEAR, the returned pages will be ranked on how close the words are to each other: the closer together the words are, the higher the rank of that page.
- Put quotation marks around words if you want Search to treat them as an entire phrase. So typing "we love Gateway" will make Search look for that entire phrase rather than anything that contains any of the three words within the phrase.
- Refine your queries with the AND NOT to exclude certain text. Typing surfing AND NOT the Net, you'll find surfing hits but no hits for surfing the net.
