Desktop Video FAQs

Q: My monitor's image no longer fills the entire screen. It has a black border around the edges. How do I get it full screen again?

A: The refresh rate may have been set higher than necessary. The following will help you change the refresh rate:

  1. On your screen, locate and click the Start button. From the Start menu, point to Settings, then click Control Panel.

  2. At the Control Panel window, double-click the Display icon, and then click the Settings tab.

  3. On the Settings tab, click the Advanced Properties button, and then click the Adapter tab.

  4. At the Adapter tab, click the drop-down arrow in the Refresh rate dialog box.

  5. From the list choose a lower rate then click OK.

You may also need to open the door on the monitor and use the adjustment buttons there to make the screen wider or taller.
