 Frequently Asked Questions
Desktop Video FAQs Q: When I try to run or install a certain program, I get a message that says it needs 256 colors to run. What does this mean?
A: The graphics in some programs need a certain number of colors in order to run. You are either running more or less than 256 colors. To check your color settings:

On your screen, locate and click the Start button. From the Start menu, point to Settings, then click Control Panel.

At the Control Panel window, double-click the Display icon, then click the Settings tab.

Click the Color Palette drop-down arrow to see more options. Then select 256 color.
NOTE: If 256 color is not an option, then you may need to reload your video drivers.
When the changes are made click OK. In the System Settings Changed dialog box click the OK button.
