Installation of NetWare SMP Module Notice

Follow the procedures below when installing the NetWare SMP Module. For ease of installation, load the CD-ROM as a DOS device.
System Requirements:
1) Novell NetWare 4.1 (any user level)
2) CD-ROM
1. Load all the files needed to activate the SCSI CD-ROM as a DOS device.
2. After the basic NetWare 4.1 server is installed and re-started, insert the 4.1 NetWare SMP CD into the CD-ROM drive. At the command prompt, type load install and press <Enter>.
3. When the Installation Options menu appears, use the <UP> or <DOWN> arrow keys to select [Product Options] and press <Enter>. This will bring you to the Other Installation Action menu.
4. Using the <UP> or <DOWN> arrow keys, select [Install a product not listed] and press <Enter>. Press <F3> to change the directory path. Replace A:\ with D:\ and press <Enter>. If prompted, choose to continue to access the CD-ROM.
5. A dialog box will appear, instructing you to install the following files:
6. When prompted for the patch directory location, press <Enter> to accept the default location.
7. When prompted for the path to the documentation directory, press <Enter> to accept the default.
8. When the Directory Services login dialog box appears, type in the systems administrative password and press <Enter>. The system will then advise you that the online documentation files have been copied to the server. Press <Enter> to continue.
9. When prompted to insert the diskette containing the Platform Specific Module, insert the ALR NetWare SMP PSM diskette into floppy drive A:\ and press <Enter>.
10. The system will now prompt you for the drive and/or path for booting NetWare. Press <Enter> to accept the default (C:\).
11. When prompted, insert the NetWare 4.1 SMP License diskette in floppy drive A:\ and press <Enter>. After the system reads the diskette, press <Enter> again to continue.
12. Press <Esc> to return to the Installations Options menu.
13. Using the <UP> or <DOWN> arrow keys, select [NCF Files options] and press <Enter>. Select [EDIT STARTUP.NCF file] and press <Enter> to modify the file.
14. Using the <DOWN> arrow key, scroll down to [Load PSM.NLM] and modify this line to read "Load Novelpsm.nlm" instead.
15. Press the <F10> key to save the modified Startup.ncf file. When prompted, select [Yes] to confirm your request.
16. Exit the Install utility and down the server and exit to DOS.
17. Insert the ALR Netware SMP PSM diskette into floppy drive A\: and DOS-copy the file novelpsm.nlm from the diskette to the Netware Server directory.
18. Remove the DOS drivers for the CD-ROM by deleting the following files from the DOS root directory (C:\).
19. To initialize the NetWare SMP upgrade, restart the server by typing Server from the NetWare Server directory and pressing <Enter>.
