Seagate SCSI Settings
J2 Jumper Block
Note: While the pictures below are graphics as opposed to pictures of the actual product, they are representative of what the you will see on the bottom of the hard drive.
There are several options that can be jumpered on the J2 Jumper Block. Make sure to locate Pin 1 before starting to change jumpers to avoid potential hard drive damage or data loss.
On this model, the drive does not have have internal terminators or any other way of adding internal termination to the drive. The client must provide external differential termination to these drives when termination is required. The drive is jumpered to allow the termination power to be transferred to the SCSI bus (TP).
SCSI ID Settings
This drive's SCSI ID can be jumpered from the front J6 jumper block or from the auxiliary block. While either block can be used, special care should be taken to use one or the other when setting the ID for the drive.
The SCSI ID is normally set over the SCSI bus by the host system. This drive is SCAM (SCSI Configured Auto Magically) - compliant. If the system into which you are installing this drive requires SCAM-compliant drives, you do not need to be concerned about the drive ID jumper settings, as the system will automatically assign the drive the ID it wants it to have. The system may or may not use the existing drive ID jumper settings. Setting the drive ID doesn't hurt anything, but is not necessary in a SCAM-compliant system.
Note: There is a black cap located on the left hand side of the jumper block. This should not be removed as these pins are reserved. These reserved pins are represented by a gray shading on the left hand side of the table.
