Provides Wireless Campus
Buena Vista University's eBVyou program equips almost 1,400 students and faculty with Gateway SoloŽ 2550 Notebook PCs for around-the-clock computing capabilities and access to the Internet and university resources. Gateway is the exclusive mobile PC provider for the nation's first totally wireless campus. This program is an innovative approach to technology that will increase students' opportunities for success in the digital age. Buena Vista selected Gateway as their mobile computing partner because of Gateway's experience in the education field, innovative products, and outstanding technology refresh programs that will keep students on the cutting edge.

Compton Community College
Takes Action Against the Digital Divide
Compton Community College has taken actions to lessen the deficiencies in technologically disadvantaged communities by purchasing 748 Gateway computers to distribute on its campus. 135 of these computers will be installed in the new Math/Science building. 125 are laptops that will be used by faculty and students. 389 are housed in the new Vocational/Education building. Through Gateway's partnership with the National Association for Equal Opportunity in higher education (NAFEO), Gateway is able to reach historically Black colleges and universities such as Compton College, bringing them affordable technology, scholarships, and internships that help their students succeed. NAFEO has teamed with Gateway to give African American students across the country easier access to valuable technology. This program at Compton will help NAFEO and Gateway with their commitment to close the Digital Divide at a minority institution.

Haywood Regional Medical Center
How a comprehensive information technology solution improved their operations and capabilities
HRMC was experiencing problems with its network as a result of the expansions or renovations in facilities and healthcare
|
|
services. These growing pains were magnified by an IT system that was falling behind. Network utilization was averaging 70-80% on the old backbone, which was flat and used 10/100 hubs. Available IP addresses were being exhausted. Monitoring and restriction of internet access was not available which was causing a diminished network bandwidth.
